Any one raising children know it is expensive. That is why our firm concentrates on all aspects of resolving family cases with compassion and an appreciation for the proper child support results for each of our clients.
What Applies To Both Kansas and Missouri?
Child support in both Kansas and Missouri is determined using a worksheet and/or a formula (which are different in each state). In both states, receiving support is for the benefit of the children, and is not a supplement for the residential parent.
Kansas
In most jurisdictions in Kansas, the parents cannot negotiate child support amounts; it is based on the income of the parents and other factors like insurance costs for the children, tax considerations, childcare costs, etc.
Missouri
In Missouri, some courts will allow the parents to determine the amount of child support by agreement. The mediators at Dispute Resolution Center Law & Mediation understand how to calculate child support that meets the requirements of either state, and can explain the nuances of these calculations.
