Elder Issues
Families face unique challenges with elder issues as the senior members age, and their needs change. Families may need to deal with the difficult task of taking away an elder relative’s car keys, or discuss when they can no longer live safely by themselves; there may be different desires with regard to estate planning and accumulated keepsakes. Respect is important to everyone. This may mean dealing with siblings who see different needs, or an elder person who doesn’t see things the way others in the family see them. Working with all the parties to make sure concerns are heard and elder issues addressed can improve the decision-making process for the whole family, while maintaining, or even improving, relationships.
